Merging elements

I''m having trouble merging elements. The pile elements are 1'' long and I''m trying to merge them, two-by-two, starting from the bottom. See attached file. I was successful with the four piles supporting the wing walls but the piles under the abutments are foiling my efforts. I tried to change all the properties to make them identical, but to no avail. Not sure what I''m doing wrong. I''m a new user. See attached model file. In case it''s relevant, I imported the model from an Autocad DXF file.

A lot of elements are overlapped. Please try again after checking duplicated elements by the function below.
Menu - Structure - Check Structure - Check/Duplicate Element(F12)
