Section and Reinforcement Error

Question:

When I try to define the longitudinal reinforcement. I get the error " An error has been encountered in computing the Girder( 1 ) interval (X=24, Y=1150.96, Z=0) - (X=24, Y=1126.96, Z=0)."

This interval is the first element of the defined span beam. I can not figure out what this error means or how to fix it. I am able to define the shear reinforcement through the length of the beam.

Thanks for your help.

Answer:
Hello,
Greetings.

Thanks for reaching us.
1) While defining the span information, element 3 is defined first. So, it becomes support1 and last element becomes support2.

2) Now, while defining the reinforcement use support 2 as start point and define the reinforcement as shown below.

After updating, the reinforcement definition is updated.

Question Thank you for your response. That appears to have resolved the issue. There are two reasons why this was a counter intuitive way to define this:
1) I would think the start of the defined reinforcement would coincide with the start of the beam (as defined in the PSC
2)  Shear reinforcement is able to be defined starting at support 1. Not sure why it would be different for transverse and longitudinal reinforcement.

But it is working, so that is the important thing.

A follow up question I had. For mild reinforcement in the section, is the section and reinf. wizard the only location to do this? From what I can tell, there is no way to look at the properties of the section to see the defined reinf. This makes it hard to verify that reinforcement was defined correctly. They only thing to do is to redefine using the section wizard.

Thanks again for your time and help!

Answer: Actually, the defined way is one of the way. To start the reinforcement from support 1, refer the image below.

Answer: Yes, we can see the reinforcement details in properties > section > section manager > reinforcement as shown below.

When you open the above section manager, it is observed that the reinforcement are still not defined/visible. This is because we can't define reinforcement details for composite section in PSC bridge wizard.
So, I would suggest that this section manager option should be used to define the reinforcement instead of PSC bridge wizard.
Hope this help and kindly let me know if further assistance is required.
