Vertical Acceleration from Moving Load

Question:

My project is a network arch for a high-speed rail line. The Design Criteria call for a minimum vertical acceleration of 0.3g as the train crosses the bridge. My first thought was to use a moving load analysis in Midas Civil, but I can't find an option for showing acceleration in the results. I also don't see any option to account for the speed of the vehicle. Is there a way to get the results I want using the moving load analysis, or is there another tool I should be using instead?

Thanks,

Answer:

Hello,

The usual moving load analysis is in a way static analysis dependent on influence line.  In this particular case, its necessary to consider the dynamic effects.  Thus, the dynamic nodal loads should be used.  Kindly refer the video provided below on how this could be done.  Do let us know if further assistance would be required.
