Error in importing SPC section
Question:
I'm having difficulty importing an spc file through Composite/Composite-General/Import SEC Files... When I select the SEC file, it brings up a Section List with 1 unrelated section listed (no other choices). If I click OK, I get a warning about a problem in generating a mesh, and a hidden section may not be drawn properly. ??? Clicking OK here, I do get section properties table populated, but not with correct values. See pdf and files.
Answer:
Actually these types of issues arise when the sections are too far from the origin location (
). This leads to tolerance issues. Hence, it is recommended to move the curves near the origin before calculating their properties or exporting them.
I've done that in the attached SPC file. However, the sections would have to be redefined with appropriate properties. I've checked for one section as a check and its working as expected now.
