Question about "Approximate Tendon Losses" function

Question:

Hello,
I am quite confused by the function of "Approximate Tendon Losses" because I doubt if it contradicts the tendon loss effect set in the construction stage analysis. If I didn't start the "Approximate Tendon Losses" function, the resultant tendon stress is significantly larger. To my understanding, I think that result only includes the effect of tendon loss from construction stage analysis. Could you tell me whether "Approximate Tendon Losses" should be checked when construction stage analysis is included?

Answer:

Hi,

There are two ways to consider long-term losses of prestress in midas Civil.
1) Apply Time Dependent Material (Creep & Shrinkage) during the construction stage analysis.
2) Apply 'Approximate Tendon Losses' function.

Thus, it is not necessary to use 'Approximate Tendon Losses' function if you define Time Dependent Material (Creep & Shrinkage) during the construction stage analysis.
