Composite plate girder design is not performed.

Question:

Hello,

I am trying to model a composite steel plate girder bridge with parabolic sections over the piers. I am attempting to use the superstructure wizard with linear tapered sections to represent the parabolic shape (got an error trying to simply make it parabolic).

I am able to run the analysis successfully, but when I go to "Composite Design", it gives me the following error message:
"No element can be designed. Make sure that Element, Section and Material types are Beam, Composite steel-I, and SRC respectively. In addition, check whether Rebar Data is defined."

I am unsure how to rectify this, please let me know if there is a way to work around this as I would prefer to use the wizard. Or if doing it manually would be a better option.

Also, I have attached the superstructure wizard "Super.wzd" and the midas file "Superstructure" to import materials and sections.

Answer:1. Select 'AASHTO-LRFD 12' for the design code.


2. Define load combination for composite steel girder design.


3. Assign material for the deck slab and the rebars.


4. Select elements to be designed.


After above input, the design is successfully done.
