Midas Pushover Analysis

Question:

Hello,

We are trying to complete a pushover analysis for a bridge. We have followed the steps which are similar for a number of Midas Pushover go-by examples. Namely:
  1. We have assigned reinforcing layouts to section numbers through the Materials/Moment-Curvature Window/Rebar Input for Section
  2. We have created inelastic material properties in the properties tab

Our problem / question arises when we try and access the inelastic Hinge Properties window. This allows us to reference the section properties using Definition: Moment-Curvatures (M-Phi) and Hinge Type “Fiber”, but the pull down menu for Fiber Names is blank, and there is no way to create this property. Therefore we cannot complete this step. Or we don’t understand the step between 1 and 2 above and the final step of performing the pushover. I think this critical step is lacking in the documentation.

Is there another way we should be defining the model, such that the rebar layouts and inelastic material properties are correctly referenced for specific columns in the pushover analysis.

We have been struggling with this for a while and would appreciate your help as soon as possible,

Answer:There are two different ways of performing pushover analysis with midas Civil.
Method 1. Pushover Analysis


Method 2. Nonlinear Static Analysis from Load tab>Dynamic Loads>Time History Load Case


For the method 1, Moment-Curvature definition should be defined from Tools>Generator>General Section Designer and exported to pushover hinge properties.
